‘the placebo’
I created ‘The Placebo’ which is an Exploration into changing the mindset and perception of the medical field encouraging a natural solution to recovery. The concept of ‘The Placebo’ encourages a positive mindset, replicating the feeling of luck in situations which may not feel lucky. This concept is visualised through a channel four documentary which tracks the journey through this medical movement.

This is the visualisation of how the Channel 4 documentary would be navigated via the Channel 4 on-demand app. This not only shows how the documentary would look but also summarizes the overall content of each episode within this documentary series.

The Placebo although a powerful concept needed a system to show its journey and on further research of how to best communicate this issue I concluded on the advertising to be done via a channel 4 documentary.
the users
This concept is rooted in changing the mindset of people about the medical field. When asking people about, how they feel in a hospital? The response was they associate it with being ill and feeling unwell. So I researched how a mindset can change a person’s psychological response. This concluded that a negative environment will create a negative psychological response.
the details
The placebo effect is when a person’s physical or mental health appears to improve after taking a placebo or ‘dummy’ treatment. What this shows is the physiological effects of the medicine can sometime out way the physical response to the medicine.
I wanted to create a concept that harnessed this psychological response as a positive. To create quicker recovery times and change the perception of medical environments.
the future
To motivate this mindset movement I have created this interactive poster campaign which will be located throughout the medical and public environment. This campaign is interactive, where it recreates the tattoo effect via a filter that can be put on anyone's face anywhere. This creates a way to track the experience and interaction with ‘The Placebo’ movement.

The primary way of watching Channel 4 content is either on television or on the Channel 4 app. But Channel 4 has other forms of advertising such as youtube where they can upload full-length content or shorts or other ways. They also use Instagram as a way to promote shows through the use of humor.
